Bienvenue and good afternoon

Quick intro:-

I bought my first 8-valve Ducati, a 1989 851 Dualseat, in 1992. This was followed by an 888 and then by a 916 in 1996....which I still own! I also bought another 851 and a 996BP in the last few years, but both have been sold. I am keeping the 916 forever. I took it apart in 2007 after it had suffered from being left in a damp garage and the paint was flaking, wiring was rotten:-

So I rebuilt the whole bike...everything. New bearings in the crankcase, new bearing shells in the rods, painted, assembled, adjusted and now running. Trouble is, when the bike gets hots there's a mid-range misfire and I wish to check the temperature and pressure senders.

I have a VAGCOM FTDI chip cable, Fiat-style adapter cable, have tested the pin-outs, installed drivers and Jpdiag_oldECU. I can read the ECU code:-

Though I get the above error after a while....not sure why this happens yet!

Regards,

Eddy in Lancashire, UK

Do I need to post the ECU code into a special "request unlock code" sub-forum, or is it OK to post it here?

Thanks,

Eddy

Thanks for the quick reply. I am using an old XP laptop which I dug out of the trash. I installed the VB6 runtime libraries from MS.com, and the FTDI drivers for the cable auto-installed when I connected the cable. All looked OK, but when I checked the CD which came with the cable set, there was a TuneECU installer, and the first step was to install its own drivers. These caused a warning that they driver hadn't passed WHQL testing, but I installed them anyway. Now, when I checked properties in Device manager there's an extra tab with serial port settings:-

and the Advanced button shows:-

Do these settings look OK, in particular the buffer and latency settings? This is definitely the correct COM port number - when I disconnect the USB cable, COM3 disappears from Device Manager.

you can lower latecy settings , but it won't help
force an other comport number and give it an other try
