Hi Duc-Tweaking friends,

3 valve ST3s engine is forgiving and runs pretty much with any mixtire setting, but the consumption goes up if wrong.

According to Brad's article on setting mixture on non-linear TPS models I have made a bad mistake.

His article says I should not have reset TPS.

Only way to fix is to re-flash with clean/ OEM map.

Does anyone have knowledge of how to fix this?

@Chris/ JP: How do I access the maps database these days?

How do I recognise clean map for ST3s ABS ?

if you reflash with same map ,your tps setting won't be re init as those setting are stored in eeprom.

for me it's dangerous to use different settings as factory setting because all tables belong to it

Didn't the ST3s ABS use the linear TPS as fitted to the 749/999, 848,1098,1198 etc.

I'll take the bodywork off today (pain in the butt on this bike) and check.

Brad lists the ST3 as non-linear as do some parts catalogues (part PF09)

The workshop manual describes TPS reset procedure for linear.

Once I've verified I'll report back to this thread.

Just completed verification of TPS

My bike is an ST3s ABS and one of the last produced.

It has the IPF2C/B linear TPS fitted,is not adjustable and can be reset with JPDiag without problems.

Earlier ST3 non ABS models (pre 2006) have non-linear so be careful and check before using JPDiag to reset.

The part number can be found in miniature letters next to the Marelli logo.

If you have used JPDiag to reset the TPS then you are OK. You should have a low value for Throttle closed of around 2.9 degrees
